My family portrait. Each family member - my mom, dad, brother and me - represented by a different pattern. Patterns that can mix and blend and complement and pull the beauty out of one another, and other times be at odds, standing alone, unmalleable. However unique, the four patterns bind to build a strong structure - here a series of squares - supporting one another even if loosely. The four background purple squares - the seasons our relationship moves through, always evolving, warmth breaking through the cold. Rigid but fluid, uncertain but rooted, waves and stillness, distance and closeness. A churning undercurrent of hope and love.
